| COURSE ADD/DROP | ||||||||||||||||
Schedule changes are made by using the RAMweb system during authorized periods. Courses can be added, sections changed within a course and credits changed in a variable credit course based on the add periods listed on the link to the right. Courses that restrict add/drop adjustments are noted under the course listing. Academic departments may drop from classes students who fail to attend either of the first two class meetings or the first meeting of a class that meets once a week. You are responsible to see that the course is dropped or you will be subject to grades and tuition and fees for the course.An adjustment of tuition and fees is allowed during the schedule change period. After this deadline, there is no adjustment in tuition and fees should you drop a course. Courses taught in less than sixteen weeks have proportionately shorter add/drop periods. |

| COURSE OVERRIDES | ||||||||||||||||
A registration override may be obtained from the instructor of the course or his/her designee in the department. An override may be obtained at any time after registration has begun. It is not necessary for the student to wait for the first day of class. The option to override students into a course is totally at the instructor's discretion. Additionally, some departments may have policies which the instructor must follow. Overrides give a student permission to register for a course regardless of the course restrictions.

| UNIVERSITY WITHDRAWAL | ||||||||||||||||
University withdrawal (to drop all courses and leave the University) is different from dropping one or more courses. If the first day of the semester has not yet begun, students may cancel their course schedule through RAMweb without any assessment of tuition or fees. Once the semester has begun, tuition and fees are assessed. Students who are planning to drop all courses and leave the University for any reason must contact the Center for Advising and Student Achievement (CASA), http://www.casa.colostate.edu/, 202 Aylesworth Hall NE, 970-491-7095 prior to their departure to complete the withdrawal process. Unless this procedure is followed, students will receive failing grades in all courses. If students do not attend and do not cancel their courses BEFORE the semester begins, they are financially responsible for 25% of assessed tuition and fees. Adjustments of Tuition and Fees Will Be Made According to the Following Schedule (1):

Students should attend all classes for which they are registered to obtain maximum educational benefits. Absence or lateness does not excuse students from required course work. Instructors and departments are responsible for establishing class attendance policies. These policies must accommodate student participation in University-sanctioned extracurricular/co-curricular activities. Students must inform their instructors prior to the anticipated absence and take the initiative to make up missed work in a timely fashion. Instructors must make reasonable efforts to enable students to make up work which must be accomplished under the instructor's supervision (e.g., examinations, laboratories). In the event of a conflict in regard to this policy, individuals may appeal using established University procedures. Academic departments may replace any students in a course who fail to attend both of the first two regularly scheduled meetings of the class (one meeting for laboratory courses or for classes which meet once each week), unless the students have notified the department in advance. Since this procedure is a department option, students remain responsible for dropping courses they do not intend to complete and within the required time period for drops. |

| FERPA | ||||||||||||||||
Students have certain rights concerning their "education records" under the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act, as amended, 20 U.S. 1232g et.seq. (FERPA). These include: 1. The right to inspect and review the student's educational records within 45 days of the day the University receives a request for access. Students should submit to the Office of Enrollment Services, or in the case of graduate studies, to the Graduate School, written requests that identify the record(s) they wish to inspect. The University official will make arrangements for access and notify the student of the time and place where the records may be inspected. If the records are not maintained by the University official to whom the request was submitted, that official shall advise the student of the correct official to whom the request should be addressed. All enrolled and former students may have access to their educational records maintained within the University. Those individuals and agencies having access to a student's records include "school officials," defined below, with legitimate educational interests; parents claiming a student as a dependent on their federal income tax; scholarship and other financial aid organizations supporting the student; organizations conducting studies for, or on behalf of, educational agencies or institutions for the purpose of developing, validating, or administering predictive tests, student aid programs, or to improve instruction; organizations carrying out accrediting functions of programs offered by the University; appropriate person(s) in an emergency; and any party designated by judicial order or subpoena, provided that, except for subpoenas and orders issued for law enforcement purposes, the University first notifies the student of the order or subpoena. Any other individual or organization must have a student's written consent to view or have access to the educational record. A student may receive one copy of each item of information contained in the educational record at a cost of $.25 per page. 2. The right to request the amendment of the student's educational records that the student believes are inaccurate or misleading. Students may ask the University to amend a record that they believe is inaccurate or misleading. They should write the University official responsible for the record, clearly identify the part of the record they want changed, and specify why it is inaccurate or misleading. If the University decides not to amend the record as requested by the student, the University will notify the student of the decision and advise the student of his or her right to a hearing regarding the request for amendment. Additional information regarding the hearing procedures will be provided to the student when notified of the right to a hearing. 3. The right to consent to disclosure of personally identifiable information contained in the student's educational records, except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosure without consent. An exception exists for public release of "directory information" unless the student has placed a written request that such information be withheld in the Office of Records and Registration by the end of the second week of classes. Colorado State defines "directory information" as a student's name, current mailing and e-mail address, telephone listing, major field of study, class, dates of attendance, anticipated date/term of graduation and expected award(s), participation in officially recognized activities and sports, weight and height of members of athletic teams, and honors and degrees awarded. Another exception allows disclosure of information about the student to school officials with legitimate educational interests. A school official is a person employed by the University in an administrative, supervisory, academic or research, or support staff position (including law enforcement unit personnel and health staff); a person or company with whom the University has contracted (such as an attorney, auditor, collection agent, or clearinghouse agency); a person serving on the governing board of the University; or a student serving on an official committee, or in a volunteer capacity, such as a peer mentor or member of a disciplinary or grievance committee, or assisting another school official in performing his or her tasks. Such officials have legitimate educational interests when they need to review a student's educational records to fulfill their responsibilities to the University. As an example of a company with whom Colorado State University has contracted, the University works with the National Student Clearinghouse which provides a Current Enrollment Verification Certificate to students and vendors indicating whether the students are enrolled for part-time or full-time status at CSU. Furthermore, the University discloses students' educational records without consent, upon request, to officials of other schools in which a student seeks or intends to enroll. 4. The right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education concerning alleged failures by the University to comply with the requirements of FERPA. The name and address of the Office that administers FERPA is:

Personally
identifiable or private information includes age, date, and place of birth.
It also includes grades, personal ID number, Social Security Number, class
schedule, residency, and class rank. None of these items may be released
with the student's permission.
Current address and phone, major, class level, dates of attendance, anticipated graduation date and expected award, degrees awarded, and honors awarded are all considered directory (public) information. This information may be released on request unless the student has signed a FERPA Release Form restricting all or some of it. A student is required to sign this form if they want public information withheld. It is available at the Records Office, Room 100 Administration Annex. If a student later wants this information released when requested, he/she will need to go to the Records Office, Room 100, Administration Annex to sign a release. |

GRADING
Do not register for the course a second time if you are completing an Incomplete. Instructor may assign a temporary grade of "I" to a student. The instructor and the student specify in writing the requirements for the student to fulfill to complete the course. After successful completion of the course, the instructor or the department head will submit a grade change to the Records Office. After one year or at the end of the semester in which the student graduates (whichever comes first), an incomplete will be automatically changed to an "F" unless the course has been completed and a grade change submitted by the instructor or department head. |

PROCEDURES: By the act of registration (i.e., requests for and assignment to one or more classes), you are financially liable to the University for assessed tuition and fees. Unless you cancel registration or officially withdraw from the University (see Withdrawal) during the authorized withdrawal periods, you are obligated to pay the full amount of the assessment and are subject to grades regardless of whether you attend class. Students are not excused from tuition charges for non-attendance. The University
will mail a statement to a designated billing address or to a current
address if no billing address is on file. If full payment of University
charges is not made when due, you are subject to a late payment penalty.
Direct any billing address requests and questions about payments to: Student
Financial Services Registration, including schedule changes (adds and drops), is accomplished by using RAMweb. In order to fully benefit from the system, it is essential that you follow the required procedures and observe the established deadlines. Being prepared to register will minimize mistakes and time on the system, thereby reducing the demand during peak registration periods. CANCELING YOUR REGISTRATION: You may cancel your registration at any time through the day before classes begin, by dropping on the registration system all courses for which you are registered. No penalty will be assessed and tuition and fees will be canceled. All financial aid awarded prior to the beginning of classes will be canceled if you fail to enroll. You are the only one, through the use of your eID to access the system, who can cause this cancellation. If the term has commenced, see withdrawal. PREPARATION FOR REGISTRATION: Contact your adviser for assistance in selection of your courses. If you do not know who your adviser is, contact the department of your major for assistance. University Open Option and Open Option Seeking (a major) students should contact the Center for Advising and Student Achievement; College Open Option students should contact their college dean's office. |

REGISTRATION PRIORITY: Beginning in late October for Spring and early/mid April for Fall, registration access is by class priority with professional (DVM) and graduates followed by seniors, juniors, sophomores, and freshmen in that order. Within each class, students with the greatest number of cumulative credits passed will have the highest priority. Obviously, a greater selection of courses will be available if you register early: FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED. The class priority schedule ends approximately four weeks later at which time newly admitted students may begin registration. REGISTRATION OPERATING HOURS: The registration system will operate during the following time periods:6:00 a.m.
- 12:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday All of these times are subject to change due to demands on the system or equipment availability. CLASS RESTRICTIONS: Some departments place class restrictions, major restrictions or prerequisites on courses or sections of courses. These restrictions will be listed with each course. Some of these restrictions may be temporary until students of designated class or major have had an opportunity to register for the course or section involved. If this is the case, all students may have access to them after the date noted in the course listing. Exceptions to these restrictions may be made only by the academic department offering the course.When you are denied enrollment in a course, the reason will be given. Reasons could include: class is filled, ineligible because of class or major restriction, time conflict with another course, lacking prerequisites, etc. You may be eligible for another section of the same course, and you can request a list of open sections. You may also reenter the system to add another course, drop a course for which you registered earlier, or change credits in a variable credit course for which you are registered. You are urged to do this as early as possible in the registration period because use of the registration system will increase as the first day of classes nears. HOLDS: Academic and administrative offices can place HOLDS on your registration, and when you access the registration system you will be prevented from registering or changing your registration schedule.HOLDS are placed for a variety of reasons (academic, financial, etc.). Failure to meet a payment deadline will result in a financial HOLD, which will prevent adds for a registered student. Each HOLD and the office involved (including office locations) will be displayed by the registration system. You must clear each HOLD with the office involved. Once you have cleared the HOLD with these offices, they will remove the HOLD from the registration system. If a HOLD is placed on your registration after you have registered, your registration will not be automatically cancelled. However, you will not have access to the registration system to adjust your schedule or to register for subsequent terms until the HOLD is cleared . HOLDS do not extend other deadlines and must be cleared prior to deadlines or adds will not be authorized. |
ADDRESS: An address hold is placed on a student's account when the University has mail returned from the current address. Contact the Records and Registration Office for removal on a student's record. DISCIPLINE: A discipline hold is placed and removed by the Office of Judicial Affairs. EMAIL: All students are required to provide a valid e-mail address upon admission to Colorado State University. A HOLD is placed on your account until this is done. You may provide your e-mail address (or create a campus e-mail) at http://eid.colostate.edu. Additional information about e-services and e-mail is also available at this web site. FINANCIAL: Financial holds can prevent registration and delay processing of a transcript request. If you have inquiries regarding a financial hold on your account, please contact Student Financial Services. IMMUNIZATION: Students who have not submitted an immunization record to Hartshorn Health Center will have an immunization hold placed on their account. Contact Hartshorn Health Center to have this hold lifted. INTENT TO GRADUATE: Once a student has reached 90 completed and enrolled credits, the Degree Office should have a graduation intent form for that student. If not, a hold will be placed on their account. The Degree Office, Room 100 Administration Annex or 491-7159, can remove the hold. MATHEMATICS: The mathematics requirement hold is placed when a student has not completed 3 credits of mathematics necessary to graduate and has reached, or will reach at the end of the current semester, 60 credits. This hold can only be removed after the student has registered for 1 to 3 mathematics credits through the Records and Registration Office. This hold will go on EVERY semester until the student has completed the required mathematics credits. See Mathematics Requirement Holds for more information. COMPOSITION: The composition requirement hold is placed when a student has not taken the composition course required to graduate and has reached, or will reach at the end of the current semester, 60 credits. Contact the English Department, 359 Eddy Building, regarding removal of this hold. See Composition Requirement Holds for more information. |
